Transport Options

 

There are a number of transport options available for patrons of the Tradewinds Hotel, from walking and public transport, to taxis and car rentals. The buzzing port city of Fremantle is only a 20 minute walk or a short 5-minute drive away and the heart of Perth City can be reached just under half an hour by taxi, bus, train or car.

 

Walking
If you’d like to include some exercise in your stay, much of the greater Fremantle area is within a reasonable walking distance.

 

A brisk 20-minute walk will have you standing outside the famed Fremantle Markets with Fremantle’s ‘Cappuccino Strip’, Esplanade, Fishing Boat Harbour and other highlights close by and ready to explore.

East Fremantle’s George Street precinct is a short 2 minute stroll from the Hotel and the Swan River, across the road from the front of the Tradewinds, is a picturesque place to take a walk (or run) with walking paths stretching both ways for kilometres.  Tip – it’s a beautiful sunset walk!

Transperth
Transperth is Perth’s public transport provider with buses and trains running regularly throughout the metro area. The 910 bus route, whose bus stops are directly across from the Tradewinds, will take you into Fremantle (bus stop on the Tradewinds side of the road) or into Perth City (bus stop on the river side of the road). A bus trip into Fremantle will cost $3 and a trip into Perth, $4.50. All Transperth tickets are valid for 2hrs.

There are a number of train services throughout Perth, the most useful to the Tradewinds being the Fremantle Line, which runs through Perth’s western suburbs and into Perth. Catch the train to visit the famous Cottesloe Beach and stop for lunch at the Cottesloe Beach Hotel, explore the nightlife of Subiaco, or check out the fashion boutique stores in and around Claremont Quarter. Perth Train Station acts as a central crossroads for all of the city’s train lines.

Car Rental
There are a number of car rental companies in Perth, with four operating out of Perth Airport. These companies have a number of branches around Perth and can be flexible on the pick-up and drop off points for your rental car. The Tradewinds Hotel offers complimentary onsite parking for hotel guests.

Taxis
Perth is home to a few different taxi companies, the largest being Swan Taxis. A trip from Perth Airport to the Tradewinds Hotel takes about 40 minutes without traffic and usually costs $50 to $60. Allow at least an hour if during a peak traffic time.
